Words from families

Three short reactions families often repeat after a visit

Before deciding, families mainly want to feel whether the home seems calm, human, and serious. These are the impressions that come back most often after a reassuring visit.

The home felt calm, cared for, and the team seemed present without unnecessary pressure.

The answers were clear, and it was easy to understand how the days are actually organised.

You can picture a loved one here without feeling that the place is cold or impersonal.

If you are unsure, start with a call. We will tell you honestly whether Dar El Echra may fit, then suggest a visit only if it makes sense.

FAQ — Choosing a retirement home, senior residence, or nursing home in Tunisia

Is Dar El Echra a retirement home in Tunisia, a senior residence, a nursing home, or a convalescence home?

Dar El Echra is first a private retirement home in Tunisia, in El Menzah 4, Tunis. Depending on your loved one’s situation, the same calm setting may fit senior residence support, nursing-home style care, or a short convalescence stay when a doctor agrees. The first call is there to listen, clarify, and guide you honestly, not pressure you.

How do we know whether our parent needs senior residence support or a nursing-home level of care?

If your parent is still fairly autonomous, senior residence support may be enough. If they need help with medication, hygiene, walking, night-time reassurance, or Parkinson-related routines, nursing-home style supervision is usually more suitable. A short call is often enough to clarify this and decide whether a visit makes sense.

What is included in the monthly price?

The double room is 2,000 TND/month and the single room is 3,600 TND/month, all-inclusive. The price covers accommodation, meals cooked on site, 24/7 presence, daily assistance, activities, cleaning, and medical coordination when needed.

Do you offer short convalescence after hospital discharge or surgery?

Yes, when the doctor allows a non-hospital setting. A convalescence stay is temporary and includes a comfortable room, meals, supervision, basic daily assistance, and simple family coordination. If the person needs hospital or specialised rehab care, we say so clearly.

Do you support Parkinson, memory issues, or heavier dependency?

Yes. We organise daily routines, medication follow-up, mobility help, and regular communication with the family and doctor. Each situation is reviewed individually before admission.

Where are you located and how can we arrange a visit?

We are in El Menzah 4, Tunis, in a calm and accessible neighbourhood. You can call or message us on WhatsApp, explain the situation, and arrange a visit without pressure.

Can admission be gradual?

Yes. We prefer a gentle transition: a first visit, then longer time in the home, then a full stay if the resident and family feel comfortable. The goal is to reduce stress, not force a decision.
